The Coming Season

“People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually — from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint — it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly ... timey-wimey ... stuff.”
― Steven Moffat

End of the semester! End of my time at UNCW! Done with reading Shakespeare plays and writing response papers using proper formatting when citing quotes! Done with reading two Young Adult novels a week and writing critical responses in which I view the text through a specific critical lens! Done with my thesis, which took me deep down to revisit my Depression, then brought me back up, back to life, to laughing at things like this:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWJz954w5nU !!

Since the semester's ended, I've already flown through a young adult novel of my choice that I checked out of the public library. It feels so good to have a library card again. It takes me back to the summers of my formative years when my mom, Payton, and I piled into the car and drove to the public library in Reidsville. I spent hours reading teen romances (Sweet Valley twins) as well as murder mysteries (Christopher Pike). And on Tuesday I shamelessly checked out three books -- two teen romances and a horror book -- as well as a horror book on CD. I like to be frightened as I'm driving; I find it makes me more alert.

Though my time at UNCW is over, I will be studying at Kingston University in England this summer! As of now, I'll be taking Live Theatre and Creative Writing. When I got accepted, I was initially excited, then angry, then on the fence, and I've come back to being excited again. I was angry because I won't be getting any financial aid for the trip because I've been in school for 68 years and I've drained my funds. Then I found out a round trip ticket costs $1600. For shame! I've never payed more than $800 to travel to London before, but alas, times have changed. And so have baggage fees. Jerks.

But I did come back around to being excited after I bought my ticket and realized I'll be living 12 miles from London for a month. This means I can time travel by doing some of the following (in no particular order):

  • Compare the McDonald's menu items in London to ours
  • And Much More!!!

Kingston University

London Eye (I took this picture my first time there)

Regent's Park (this reminds me of Heavenly Creatures)

Big Ben (I'll miss my lil' Ben)
